PROSPECTIVE

Founded by St. Katharine Drexel, more than 120 years ago, under the patronage of the Holy Family, Holy Family Classical School delivers an exceptional Catholic classical education. Emphasizing the integral unity of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, Holy Family's curriculum seeks to develop the intellect to better understand God’s created world. The curriculum foundation is nourished by Theology, the study of God (derived from Greek theos = God; logos = reason), and develops into a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of the Trivium and Quadrivium that form the seven liberal arts.

The three stages of the Trivium are Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric and the four stages of the Quadrivium are Arithmetic, Geometry, Astronomy and Music. Continuing the intertwining of faith and reason, the curriculum further develops the liberal arts into the branches of History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, Art, and Languages. All the branches of a Catholic classical education, by a process of discovery combined with an education in virtue, leads us to know Truth and ultimately give our students a sense of liberation.
