Students responded with great joy as Pope Leo XIV stepped to the portico in front of Saint Peter’s Basilica.

As white smoke poured out of the chimney atop the Sistine Chapel, Head of School Mr. Everett Buyarski invited students to the lower level of the Cathedral to watch events unfold.

Father Brian O’Brien gave a running commentary on the papal selection process and what the new pope was doing as he prepared to make his first public appearance as pope.  Students joined Father O’Brien in prayer as they waited.

The student body erupted with joy as they cheered for the new Holy Father.
